How did this come to our attention?

The Accessible Education Initiative is a core program of the I’m-Able Foundation, inspired by the lived experiences of our founder, Sonia George. Born and raised in Tanzania and now pursuing a degree in Economics and Business in Europe, Sonia carries with her a deep understanding of the educational inequalities faced by children with disabilities in her home country.

Growing up, she witnessed how education was often undervalued, especially for those living with physical impairments. But Sonia has always believed that education is not just a path to employment — it is a tool for empowerment, dignity, and sustainable opportunity. That belief became a mission after she met a bright young student who lost both his mobility and his family in a tragic accident. Despite his resilience, he struggled to access basic education, a story that deeply moved Sonia and fueled her determination to act.

Through this initiative, the I’m-Able Foundation provides mobility aids, learning materials, and scholarships to children with disabilities across Tanzania. We also partner with schools to foster inclusive environments where every child — regardless of ability — can thrive and be seen.

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”

To make inclusive education a reality in Tanzania, we’ve set clear and measurable goals that reflect both urgency and impact. From providing direct support to students, to working with schools and educators, every target is a step toward breaking the cycle of exclusion. These milestones not only guide our efforts but also ensure that every child with a disability has the opportunity to learn, grow, and shape their own future with dignity.

  • Sponsor 100 students with disabilities
  • Partner with 20 schools across Tanzania
  • Launch 5 community education awareness campaigns
  • Train 100 teachers in inclusive education practices
